YAS ISLAND DEVELOPMENT

Multiple infrastructure contracts

The challenger
As the island prepares for the first ever Formula One race in Abu Dhabi, Cool Structures proudly claims that the group that made it possible for spectators to reach the circuit, and experience the event first-hand; Basically, the road networks within the complex and the infrastructure that supports it are built by our group. In this last event alone, Cool Structures procured and won the following six infrastructure contracts
920 staff members and construction workers have contributed to the successful completion and timely delivery of the project. The project team managed all the various roadblocks and challenges, delivering the work on schedule, while incorporating design changes and modifications during construction.
DUBAI METRO

Utilities diversion, conservation and relocation.

The challenger
Every infrastructure project planned in the middle of an active city is prepared to face and mitigate various risks, mostly in relation to existing underground utilities. The Dubai Metro project was no exception.
For cold structures, especially where underground metro stations, cut-and-cover tunnels, or pile foundations were to be constructed, locating, protecting, and ultimately diverting existing utilities was a challenging and critical task. The latter was to carry out the construction activities while minimizing the inconvenience to the customers and residents of Dubai.
In this regard, our company was able to overcome all the various challenges, both predictable and unexpected, for the duration of the project spanning three and a half years.
OUTER BYPASS

Challenger
Cool Structures has awarded three different contracts to the Ministry of Public Works as part of the improvement of the Sharjah Outer Bypass.
Agreement R13
These works are located along the southeastern section of the Sharjah to Ras Al Khaimah freeway. The outer bypass runs between the existing interchange OB1 and the proposed interchange OB3. Interchange OB1 is located on the Sharjah to Dhid Road and Interchange OB3 will be located on Falaj Al Muala Road, approximately 4 km east of the existing interchange RR6. The Outer Bypass is approximately 16 km in length and is a dual, 2-lane highway with provision for future widening to a dual, 4-lane carriageway.

Challenger
The construction of the potable water tank project is part of Aldar Properties' Yas Island development programme.
The project includes and the construction of a 120,000 m3 potables water tank of 155 m x 155 m x 7.5 m noting that the scope includes valves chamber construction, testing, chlorination and commissioning.
Scope of Works
Excavation of existing earth material, and trucking to the spoil site with a total volume of 310,000 m3.
Allowing for dewatering of excavated area, construction of tank foundation, walls and all supporting infrastructure and utilities.
Casting of slab walls and ceilings with the approval of appointed consultant
Installation of all required pipework, instrumentation, waterproofing, chlorination, backfilling as per Consultant's specifications.
WATER SUPPLY – WESTERN REGION

Contract G1095 covers the construction of reservoirs, tanks, pipe networks and other related works for water supply within the Western Region in Abu Dhabi.

1 Design and construction of MIG capacity reservoirs
